Sweaty palms, but saving a life anyway

OK, I have looked up the dates of the nearest blood donor drives and it looks like Thursday is going to be the day.

This is a very VERY big deal for me.

When I was pregnant, I had to have blood samples taken for the battery of tests they submit us pregnant ladies to.  I did warn the nurse that I wasn’t very good with needles, but I don’t think she really understood JUST how bad I could be.

There I was with (I think) sample number 4 stuck in my arm when I said, “I feel faint, you need to stop now….now….NOW…get it out my arm *NOW*!

That was the point that the nurse found herself with a dead weight collapsed against her, supported by one of her arms, with the other trying to do something with the needle flapping away in my arm.

I think I got all the nurses in the ante-natal clinic round me at that point.

Of course, once the drama was calming down, my husband had to get in on the actions, and *HE* then almost passed out. So there we were, a right pair, one lying on the couch and the other on the floor.

Having given birth after a long induction with various things stuck in me at various points, I am a lot better now. I think.

We’ll find out on Thursday…
